"""v655 -- PRIME.WEIL.MOSCO.01: W2 MOSCO / NORM-RESOLVENT PREPARATION --
measurable surrogates for the typed W2 remainder of
v644_w2_form_density.py (iv)(a) and (iv)(b), at the fixed window
a = alpha(h = 184) = log 16 on the dyadic ladder M = 92/184/368/736.

CONTEXT. w2_form_density_probe closed the classical FEM-density slice
and measured Rayleigh-Ritz eigenvalue convergence; its typed remainder
is (a) Mosco/Gamma convergence of the lattice forms to Q_W^a (the
liminf inequality needs the compact embedding H_log -> L^2, Suzuki
arXiv:2606.09096 Prop. 4.1, transferred UNIFORMLY to the lattice
family) and (b) norm-resolvent convergence of the Galerkin operators
to A_a. Neither is provable by computation; this probe MEASURES the
feasible surrogates and types what is still missing. LAG ROUTE (the
w2_form_density lesson, sharpened here): at a = log 16 the ground
eigenvalues collapse to 0+ THROUGH the scales 1e-8 -> 1e-10, so the
resolvable objects are Cauchy gaps ~1e-9 -- the plain 16-pt Gauss
route's ~2e-5-per-lag kink systematic would destroy everything; ALL
lags are assembled LAYERWISE in the route certified by
w1_theorem_probe P2.3 (smooth screw layer by Gauss on the analytic
integrand, d <= 2 by exact mpmath; atom layer closed B-spline; pole
layer closed). Convention: Suzuki's TRUE screw function (Lerch
coefficient +1/4, w1_theorem_probe C0).

CALIBRATION HISTORY (declared -- honesty first): the FIRST version of
this probe used the sector GROUND MODES as compactness carriers and
failed its own bars (A0/A1/A2/A4-wiggle of run 1, 2026-08-02),
because the measured bottom of the spectrum at a = log 16 sits AT the
dense-eigensolver resolution: lambda_1(M = 736) = -1.1e-11 (full),
+1.2e-10 (even), i.e. lambda_a = 0+ within the ~1e-9 discretization
error -- exactly the w2_form_density (iv)(c) typed note.  A
near-degenerate bottom cluster makes the ground DIRECTION
float-unresolvable, so ground-mode L^2 distances and H_log norms
cannot converge at float level (the even-sector mode switched
identity at M = 736), and the wiggle-quotient monotonicity bar had no
theoretical basis. THE REDESIGN (this version): the verdict-bearing
compactness carriers are the RESOLVENT VECTORS u_M = (A_M + 1)^{-1}
P_M f (the canonical objects of Mosco/norm-resolvent theory, immune
to eigenvalue clustering); the ground-mode measurements are KEPT and
reported as the instability finding, with an attribution check
(within-sector bottom gap vs discretization error). Run-1 numbers
are reproduced by this version's sections, nothing is discarded.

SLICES AND BARS (this version):

  A0 [E-float] assembly sanity: parity identity per M; sector
       ground eigenvalues monotone non-increasing on the nested
       ladder WITHIN the declared solver floor 20 eps rad n (dense
       generalized eigensolver backward error, n = pencil dim);
       prolonged L^2 norms stay 1.

  A1 [MEASURED, the instability finding] the eigen-scale collapse:
       lambda_1 per sector decays to the solver floor; the
       within-sector bottom gap lambda_2 - lambda_1 at M = 736 is
       compared to the per-sector discretization error (last Cauchy
       gap of lambda_1). ATTRIBUTION BAR: for every sector whose
       ground-mode L^2 distances fail to converge, the bottom gap
       must be <= 10 x the discretization error (the cluster explains
       the instability); ground-mode distances and H_log norms are
       PRINTED (reported, no convergence bar -- run-1 lesson).

  A2   [MEASURED] norm-resolvent Cauchy rates at c = 1: u_M =
       (A_M + 1)^{-1} P_M f by the Galerkin solve (G + Mass) x = b on
       5 FIXED analytic test functions; relative L^2 errors against
       the finest stage strictly decreasing, every last rate >= 0.8
       (the measured POWER); kappa(A_M + 1) reported.

  A3 [MEASURED, central] the uniform H_log bound on the RESOLVENT
       family: N^2(M) = (1/pi) int_0^T |uhat_M|^2 log(2 + t) dt on
       the L^2-NORMALIZED resolvent vectors (closed pw-linear Fourier
       transform, T = 1500, dt = 0.025); per test function: spread
       (max - min)/min <= 0.5 AND last increment <= max(0.75 first
       increment, 2% of N^2(736)); guards: Parseval within 2e-3,
       tail share < 1e-5. This is the measured surrogate of the
       compact-embedding hypothesis (Suzuki Prop. 4.1) on the family
       that the Mosco proof actually runs through.

  A4   [MEASURED] liminf structure: (a) recovery side Q_M(I_M v) on 5
       fixed odd analytic test functions: |Cauchy gaps| strictly
       decreasing, last rates >= 0.8, SIDE of convergence printed
       (measured, not assumed); (b) wiggle falsification: the top
       lattice mode w_j = (-1)^j must cost non-negative energy
       (q_w > 0 at every M; NO monotonicity bar -- the top-mode
       quotient probes the moving lattice-edge symbol) and the exact
       quadratic dip B(v, w)^2/Q(w) relative to |Q(v)| < 1e-2 at
       every M (L^2-small wiggles cannot lower the lattice form).

  A5 [C] WHAT IS STILL MISSING for the full W2 statement (typed, no
       claim): (a) a PROOF of the uniform H_log bound -- the discrete
       Garding-type inequality Q_M >= c ||.||_Hlog^2 - C ||.||_L2^2
       with M-independent constants (then Prop. 4.1 compactness
       transfers and the Mosco liminf follows); (b) the liminf for
       ARBITRARY L^2-weakly convergent lattice sequences (here:
       canonical recovery + one-parameter wiggle falsification); (c)
       rigorous interval enclosures for the layerwise lag route; (d)
       the MEASURED eigen-scale collapse means individual
       eigen-direction observables are NOT float-certifiable at this
       a -- any W2 route must run through resolvent/form observables
       (which is what norm-resolvent convergence asserts); (e) the
       identification of the limit form with Q_W^a on the common odd
       sector is W1 (measure level, done). No positivity claim, no
       RH statement.

Verdict enums (frozen): MOSCO-PREP-PASS (A0-A4 all pass), MIXED (one
slice group fails), MOSCO-PREP-FAIL (>= 2 slice groups fail).

FIREWALL: v563 import read-only; no marker moves; W2 stays OPEN (the
Mosco/norm-resolvent theorem is prepared, not proved); no positivity
claim, no RH statement. Python-only, counted per GATE.WOLFRAM.02.

PROVENANCE: discovery probe w2_mosco_probe.py (2026-08-02, 7/7,
verdict MOSCO-PREP-PASS).
